The Merced County Area Agency on Aging (MCAAA) contracts with the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG), also known as "The Bus" to provide free bus passes for seniors, age 60-61.  Picture identification (ID) is required to verify proof of age.

Fixed Route Bus Passes:

As a result of a local tax measure, all seniors, age 62 and above, can ride all Fixed Route busses for free. These Fixed Route bus passes are available at the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Office, 851 West 23rd Street, Merced, CA.

Paratransit Bus Passes:

MCAAA has elected to purchase door-to-door Paratransit Bus passes for seniors, 60 and older, whose disability prevents them from accessing a Fixed Route bus stop.  Eligible seniors must present a picture ID confirming their age, along with a valid ADA Disability Card issued by The Bus to obtain a pass.

Seniors with disabilities who are unable to navigate fixed route services of The Bus can apply for a Paratransit Eligibility card by calling (877) 232-7433, or apply on-line at

Upon receipt of the ADA Paratransit Eligibility card, the eligible senior may bring the card, along with ID showing proof of age, to one of the locations listed below to obtain a free Paratransit Bus pass, subject to availability.
