Overview
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office “Courts Security Bureau” consists of approximately fifty Sheriff’s employees. This Bureau employs Deputy Sheriff’s, Part time Deputies and Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s, who provide traditional Bailiff duties, judicial protection and general law enforcement.
There are several full time Correctional Officer’s who transport and monitor inmates. Sheriff Security Attendants (SSA) operate weapon screening and metal detection devices at designated screening stations for all court facilities. The S.S.A.s assist with monitoring the safety of visitors, court staff and inmates through state of the art security equipment, and dispatch capabilities.
Goals
The goal of the Sheriff and the Court Security Bureau is to provide a safe and professional environment for the citizens of Merced County utilizing our judicial system.
