Veterans Day Drive Thru Parade
Information on the Parade
Merced County is pleased to announce that at this time we are moving forward in planning the 17th Annual Veterans Day Parade in the City of Merced on Thursday, November 11, 2021! However, we are fully aware that with the uncertainty of COVID-19, events can drastically change or be cancelled all together by the County or State.
In keeping with current COVID-19 safety guidance and protocols, we have redesigned the traditional parade to a Drive Thru experience. The parade will follow the familiar parade route along Main Street in downtown Merced, however, with a few changes. Parade floats and participants will be positioned along Main Street between M and G Streets AND the public will have the opportunity to drive thru the event, heading east from M Street toward G Street. This parade format will allow for spacing between parade entries and no direct contact with the public.
The public is invited to drive thru the event anytime between 1 and 4 pm. Due to street closures along Main Street, the public may enter the parade route at R Street and M Street.
In order to protect the health and safety of everyone, you are encouraged to review existing COVID-19 Safety Guidance & Protocol prior to participating in the event and follow published social distancing and face covering policies during the event. Public gathering along the parade route (road, sidewalks, Bob-Hart Square, etc.) during the event is discouraged. In addition, the County asks that the public remain in their vehicles while driving through the event and follow the directions of Merced City Police Officers for emergency and traffic safety reasons.
For more information, please contact the Merced County Veterans Services Office at (209) 385-7588.
Posted below is a flyer announcing the parade, the parade rules, an application to register as a parade participant, and a sponsorship form. Please note that the entry fee is waived again this year. To enter, simply return the completed application to the address listed on the bottom of the form, and keep the flyer and rules for future reference.
Every effort is made to conduct the parade in a cost efficient manner however, there are expenses that we would welcome additional assistance with. If your group would like to donate any amount of money to help defray these costs, you can include that donation with your application. Please note that all checks must be made out to “United Way of Merced County.”
Thank you in advance for your support in honoring the veterans of Merced County!
