Merced County Emergency Notification System

Merced County is now issuing critical notifications to citizens county-wide. Should there ever be a threat to your health or safety, you can receive notifications if you already have a listed landline phone number. You can be notified by other means by registering online.

Registration of Phone Numbers

The Merced County Emergency Notification System database already houses landline phone numbers. If you want to be reached by other means such as cellular phone, work phone, email, fax, or via instant messaging, you MUST register that information. All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential.

Use of the System

Merced County Emergency Notification System is used to deliver alerts when there is a threat to the health or safety of Merced County residents.

How it Works

The process begins when Merced County Emergency Notification System sends out a message about a potential safety hazard or concern. Messages may be sent to all standard voice and text communication devices, including landline phone numbers, cellular phone numbers, faxes, and email. If you do not confirm receipt of the message, the system will continue trying to contact you until it receives a confirmation from you.

Cost

There is no cost to register. Merced County Emergency Notification System is a free service provided by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Emergency Services, and participating cities.

Cellular phone companies may apply a service charge to your bill if you receive alerts by way of cellular calls and/or text messaging. Merced County is not responsible for any charges that may be incurred as a result of receiving these alerts on your cell phone.

Alternate Sign-In Locations

Merced County Libraries have been identified as alternate Citizen Sign-in locations; check local library hours of operations online. Emergency notifications to the public will be processed through the respective city’s Emergency Operation Center or the Merced County Office of Emergency Services.
