1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a program that invites families to develop early literacy in their babies and young children by reading them 1000 books before they enter Kindergarten. In addition to becoming great readers, participants will earn fun prizes and can participate in an annual graduation ceremony once they complete the program. Check out the most recent ceremony here: Third Annual 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Graduation. Families can register their babies, toddlers, and preschoolers for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten through Beanstack.

The goals of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at the Merced County Library include establishing strong literacy skills in young readers, encouraging families to bond through reading, and developing an atmosphere of literacy and education in Merced County.

The Library wishes to thank the Friends of the Merced County Library for its support of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. It also acknowledges that the program name and logo are used with permission from the 1000 Books Foundation.
