Fruit & Vegetable Standardization Program

Roadside Stand Inspection
Standardization laws establish minimum standards for maturity, quality, size, standard container and pack, and container markings.  The Merced County Agricultural Commissioner and his staff enforce standards at the local level.  Inspections take place in fields and packing houses, at wholesale markets and retail distributions centers, retail outlets, and highway inspection stations.

Roadside Vendors - Important Information

Our department enforces the requirements by CDFA to ensure confidence and stability in the agricultural marketplace and to protect unfair business practices between producers, handlers, and the processors of California farm products.  Please make sure to contact other agencies and Merced County Departments for required documents.
