In 2017, Merced County Board of Supervisors implemented Cannabis Regulations which allows residents to grow up to six cannabis plants per residence for personal use. Personal use plants must be grown indoors, in a controlled space inaccessible to minors. More information can be found in the County’s Cannabis Regulation Ordinance (County Ordinance No. 1955).
All commercial cannabis activity is prohibited within the unincorporated areas of Merced County, with the exception of medical cannabis deliveries from licensed medical cannabis retailers. County regulations require that retailers obtain a business license with the Community and Economic Development Department prior to making any deliveries. Refer to flow chart below for the process to obtain proper licensing.
