John Hopkins COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Global Cases Map - An easy to use flowchart was released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for practitioners to utilize with patients who may have been exposed to COVID-19 can be accessed here:
Flowchart To Identify And Assess 2019 Novel Coronavirus - On March 24, the CDC released their latest update to guidelines for collecting, handling, and testing clinical specimens in relation to COVID-19 patients. Updates include allowance for self- or healthcare worker-collected nasal swabs, and an updated infection control link to COVID-specific guidance. - On March 21, the CDC released guidance for Alternative Care Sites, which ensures that these facilities can support implementation of recommended infection prevention and control practices. The guidance is located here: Alternative Care Sites Guidance
- On March 18, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued guidance on testing for health care providers and laboratories for diagnostic testing related to COVID-19. - On March 16, the California Department of Public Health sent out guidance for healthcare facilities in regards to persons who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19. - On March 6, the California Department of Health Care Services sent out a memo to managed health care plans in regards to existing contractual requirements and state and federal laws that ensure their members are able to access medically necessary services in a timely manner.
