This is a non-paid internship opportunity for students currently enrolled at a College or University. The goal of the internship program is to provide structured work experience for students interested in a career in the community corrections field.
The Internship Program requires a commitment from students to complete a set number of work experience hours. In addition, it requires an internship application, completion of a background process, completion and return of specific forms, and attendance at some departmental trainings. Internship applications will be accepted in June and July to start in the Fall semester and in November and December to start in the Spring semester. All applications will be accepted, however, not every student will be selected for an internship.
Interns will report to assigned units in the Probation Department’s Adult and Juvenile Divisions following the completion of an orientation period. Probation professionals in the units of assignment will provide additional job specific training and day-to-day oversight and support. Interns will be provided with a tour of the Probation Department facilities, including the Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex, and will have the opportunity to shadow probation officers in the course of their duties.
