Chief Probation Officer Chris Henn began his career with the Merced County Probation Department in October of 2001 as a Deputy Probation Officer. From 2001 through 2006, he worked in adult supervision and placement/special services units.
Chief Henn was promoted to Supervising Probation Officer in October 2006 and assigned to oversee the Juvenile Intake Unit. He has had the opportunity to oversee every unit in Merced County Probation Department’s Field Services Division, specifically the Los Banos office, Adult Supervision Unit, AB109 Unit, Juvenile Supervision Unit, Juvenile Intake Unit, and the Placement/Special Services Unit during his time as a supervisor and also provided services as a baton instructor and officer safety instructor.
In October 2011, Chief Henn was the first Supervisor of the AB-109 Unit (Trident Center). He was heavily involved in creating policies and procedures for the new unit. The Trident Center was designed to offer our clients returning from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) the ability to connect with the needed services to assist in facilitating a successful transition back to Merced County. Due to being the first probation Supervisor at the Trident Center, he worked closely with employees/supervisors from Merced County Sheriff’s Department, Behavioral Health Recovery Services, Human Services Agency and Child Support.
Chief Henn was promoted to Deputy Chief Probation Officer in August 2020 assigned to oversee the Adult Field Division. In 2023, he was assigned to the Juvenile Hall as the Superintendent/Deputy Chief.
Chief Henn was sworn in as Merced County Probation's Chief Probation Officer on November 3, 2023.
