Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex

The Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex (IGJJCC) is a secured detention and youth treatment facility, serving Merced County. The facility is operated 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by the Merced County Probation Department. Youths detained at IGJJCC are alleged to have committed a law violation and are detained for the protection of themselves and/or the community.

The IGJJCC is a facility designed to hold youth offenders who cannot return safely to the community following their arrest. The facility provides a wide range of services, including education, counseling, behavioral health, and medical care, to all youth in custody. Youth are provided with the following necessities including food, clothing, and living quarters, as well as mental health, medical care, and dental care.

Youth in the care and custody of the IGJJCC are afforded a safe and healthy environment, with an emphasis on individual growth and community success. While in custody youth attend school Monday through Friday with certified instructors provided by the Merced County Office of Education (MCOE). MCOE provides a fully accredited, year-round, academic program for youth at the Juvenile Hall.

The Juvenile Hall is guided by the minimum standards contained in the California Code of Regulations Title 15 & Title 24 and is inspected for compliance to these standards by the Board of State and Community Corrections.
