Captain Aaron Rosenberg
Captain Aaron Rosenberg was born and raised in Merced, California, and graduated from Merced High School in 1994. Captain Rosenberg was hired as a Volunteer Reserve Deputy Sheriff by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office in 1998. Captain Rosenberg served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff while he attended the Ray Simon Criminal Justice Training Center’s Police Academy in Modesto, California. Captain Rosenberg graduated from the Police academy in 1999 and shortly after graduating from the Police Academy, he was sworn in as a full-time Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Westside of Merced County.
In 2003, Captain Rosenberg was assigned to the Detective Bureau where he was the Merced area property crimes detective. In 2005, Captain Rosenberg returned to the Patrol Bureau, where he became a field-training officer and returned to the Detective Bureau in 2008. Over the next six years, Captain Rosenberg worked a number of assignments in the Detective Bureau including financial crimes, computer forensics, and major crimes. In addition to his regular duties, Captain Rosenberg was a certified SCUBA diver for the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Water Rescue and Recovery Team.
Captain Rosenberg was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 where he was assigned to the graveyard shift as a Patrol Sergeant and oversaw the field-training program for newly hired deputy sheriffs. In 2016, Captain Rosenberg was assigned to the Los Banos Substation as the Station Sergeant where he was responsible for the daily operations of the substation. Later that year, Captain Rosenberg was assigned as the Court Security Bureau Sergeant where he insured the safety of judicial staff and the public at all the court facilities in Merced County. Eventually, Captain Rosenberg was assigned as the Administrative Sergeant where he was responsible for the recruitment and hiring for all sworn, non-sworn, and civilian positions at the Sheriff’s Office.
In October of 2017, Sheriff Vernon H. Warnke promoted Rosenberg to the rank of Lieutenant and he was assigned to the Corrections Bureau as the commanding officer of the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Main Jail in Downtown Merced. In February 2019 Captain Rosenberg transitioned to the Operations Bureau where he oversaw the operation of the Animal Services Bureau, Charles F. Bludworth Sub-Station in Delhi, and Merced County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center. In August of 2020, Captain Rosenberg was assigned as the Administrative Lieutenant where he oversaw the $40 million remodel project for the John Latorraca Correctional Center under Senate Bill 863, Sheriff’s Office Records Bureau, and Civil Bureau.
In March of 2021, Sheriff Vernon H. Warnke promoted Rosenberg to the Rank of Captain where he currently oversees patrol, detectives, the Communications Bureau, Animal Services Bureau, the Coroner’s Office, Dive Rescue & Recovery, and area commanders at the Charles F. Bludworth Sub-Station in Delhi, and the Jess “Pooch” Bowling Sub-Station in Los Banos.
Captain Rosenberg earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University in 2014.
