COVID-19 Notice

The safety and health of our community is important to us.  As such, we are taking the concerns associated with novel coronavirus (Covid-19) seriously and are closely monitoring this fluid situation.  For more details on COVID-19, you can visit the Merced County’s Public Health Website on COVID-19.

Following the stay-at-home order effective March 23, 2020, the Building and Safety Division’s front counter and in-person services will be closed until further notice and will instead provide services electronically.

To submit building plans for review, please email your plans and a complete Building Permit application to bpplancheck@countyofmerced.com.

Responsibilities

The Building and Safety Division is responsible for the issuance of building permits and inspection of all construction within the unincorporated areas of Merced County.

Building and Safety Division Moved To Electronic Permit Submittals Jan. 4, 2016

In an effort to streamline services and reduce waste, the Building and Safety Division of the Merced County Department of Public Works shifted to electronic permit submittals starting January 4, 2016.
