Child Sexual Assault
The District Attorney's Office has a prosecutor assigned full-time to child sex crimes. All police reports of a sex crime against a child come to our Deputy District Attorney, who reviews the matter for prosecution. If a case is filed, the same prosecutor handles the case from filing to resolution.
The District Attorney's Office has a special interview room designed to be kid friendly, for children that have been victims of a sexual assault. We also provide victim services and advocates for the child and their parents.
Adult Sexual Assault
The District Attorney's Office prosecutes adult sexual assaults. When a victim is over 18 years old, the case goes to adult sexual assaults. A prosecutor will review the police report to determine if charges should be filed. Once a case is filed, it is assigned to a prosecutor to handle until the matter is resolved. We also provide victim services and advocates for the adult victims.
