Services Provided

California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) is a program that provides temporary financial assistance to qualifying families. CalWORKs provides Medi-Cal coverage for all recipients. CalWORKs does have work requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

For eligibility, applicants must have a verified deprivation. Deprivations include unemployment, underemployment (less than 100 hours per month), disability or incapacity, or an absent parent. Household income and resources also go into the eligibility determination.

Benefits

Benefit amounts are based upon eligible household size and income. Your eligibility worker will work with you to get the highest benefit amount you are eligible for. Adults can only receive CalWORKs benefits for 48 months during their adult life.
