The Registration Race wrapped up on Friday May 31st. Although this was not a running race, the finish line held all of the same anticipation. On the afternoon of the 31st, there were two High Schools that were neck and neck with one another. Golden Valley High School and Los Banos High School were only a few registration cards apart. Fifteen minutes before the deadline, Cristaline Torres from Los Banos High School came in with a huge stack of Registration cards from Taylor Parmley. All of Taylor's hard work paid off, she won the Registration Race with 183 voter registrations.
All of the participants and their respective High Schools were honored for their efforts on June 4th at the Merced County Board of Supervisors's meeting. Our department commends the outstanding performance of all the students. We hope that they continue educating our community on the importance of voting.
The Final Results:
Atwater High School - 45
Buhach Colony High School - 88
Golden Valley High School - 171
Los Banos High School - 183
