Things are Beginning to Move!
On September 15, 2020 the Board of Supervisors approved a contract with a planning consultant, RRM Design Group, for the preparation of the Franklin-Beachwood Community Plan Update.
What's Happened So Far?
Secured resources for the community, engaged the residents of Franklin-Beachwood and selected an award-winning Consultant.
- On December 18, 2019, the Franklin-Beachwood Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) was informed that the County had successfully secured a SB 2 Planning Grant to update the Franklin-Beachwood
Community Plan, which was last adopted in 1983. - At the MAC Meeting, the Department of Community & Economic Development also gave an overview of community planning and its importance. The County heard directly from community members who shared how to best connect and communicate with residents, business owners, and visitors.
- On January 22, 2020, County staff returned to the MAC and presented its plan for how outreach and engagement would take place based on the community’s input the previous month. This community outreach plan includes the types of communication and activities the community desired to see during the planning process. This community-driven outreach plan was included as part of our scope of work to select a consultant through a Request for Proposals (RFP) competitive process.
- Upon competing in procurement process, the award-winning RRM Design Group was selected to be the Consultant for the Franklin-Beachwood Community Plan Update.
Next Steps Community
Engagement, conversation and a lot of listening.
- Once the project schedule is confirmed with the Consultant, County Staff will start collecting necessary information and history about the Franklin-Beachwood community. While this is taking place, public/community meetings will be held to facilitate a conversation about community priorities and goals, and use it as an opportunity to envision what the community will look like in 20 years.
- Regular updates will be provided on the website and to the mailing list and Franklin-Beachwood MAC.
