The Merced County District Attorney’s Office has filed four counts of First Degree Murder with Special Circumstances against Jesus Manuel Salgado. Special Circumstances allege that the murders were committed during the commission of a kidnapping and that there were multiple murders in the same case. Salgado is also charged with Arson, PC451(d) and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, PC29800(a)(1). Salgado’s prior serious offenses and factors in aggravation have been alleged in the complaint.
Salgado faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. District Attorney Kimberly Lewis will not be making a decision regarding the death penalty in 2022. The People are preserving their right to pursue the death penalty in the future.
Salgado is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Department 3 of the Merced Superior Court.
