Out of an abundance of caution, Sheriff Vern Warnke is issuing evacuation warnings for the areas of Planada and Le Grand. At this time, the Army Corps of Engineers is predicting that Owens Creek and Mariposa Creek flood control dams will reach their maximum capacity tomorrow evening around 9:00 pm. That means that they will start using their bypass channel to release more water and keep the dams intact. Due to this occurrence, please plan ahead and gather all important documents, medication, device chargers, and animals. If you choose to evacuate and have nowhere else to go, there are shelters available in Merced and Atwater. We will provide you with up-to-date information as the situation evolves. For all emergencies, please call 9.1.1.
