Disaster Recovery Center to Close, Relief Services Remain Available

Merced County Community Update

The Disaster Recovery Center located at the Sierra Building of the Merced County Fairgrounds is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, but resources and assistance will still be available for residents moving forward.

After the Disaster Resource Center closes, individuals can still receive assistance regarding their FEMA claim online, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or through the FEMA mobile app.

Additionally, residents who would like more information on community resources can call the United Way at 211.

Catholic Charities Disaster Relief Services is also available to support flood survivors by providing the following services:

  • Advocacy for families;
  • Guidance and resources for the rebuilding process;
  • Resources in rental assistance;
  • A recovery plan;
  • Resources in mental health;
  • Resources in unmet needs;
  • and food/clothing assistance.

With more wet weather on the way, residents are advised to use caution when traveling during storm events and avoid flooded roads, remain clear of fast-moving creeks and rivers, and follow all emergency signage. When driving in the rain, always turn on your low-beam headlights.
