Jeff Witthun began his role as the Director of Merced/Mariposa County Regional Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) on April 24, 2023. As the head of the organization, it is Jeff’s responsibility to ensure that DCSS effectively serves the community in working to protect and enhance the lives of children and families by establishing legal parentage over children by an unmarried parent, by locating absent parents so that they may play an active role in the lives and well-being of their children, and by establishing and collecting on child support orders so that children in the community can benefit from much-needed financial support throughout their formative years until they reach adulthood.

Jeff has an extensive background in Child Support, both as an Attorney and as an Administrator for county child support programs in Wisconsin and Nevada.  Jeff served as the Director of the Family Support Division of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office (DAFS) in Las Vegas for 5 years after serving over 5 years as the Assistant Director of the organization. Prior to that, Jeff Spent 10 years as the Lead Attorney of Kenosha County Child Support Services in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and served 7 years simultaneously as President of the Wisconsin Child Support Enforcement Association. Jeff is a well-seasoned expert in child support program legal and operational processes, organizational leadership, and change management.  He has been a regular speaker at local, state and national child support conferences throughout the country.

Jeff holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, as well as a Law degree from the University of Pacific-McGeorge School of Law.  He is licensed to practice law in California, Nevada, and Wisconsin.
