As Director of Workforce Investment, Erick Serrato also serves as the Executive Director of the Merced County Workforce Development Board. In these roles, Mr. Serrato is responsible for the oversight of federal workforce programs and initiatives aimed at solving employment pain-points for workers and businesses. Mr. Serrato is also a respected consultant with subject-matter expertise in human-centered design and innovation in the public sector, and has been invited to present with the National Association of Workforce Boards and the California Workforce Association. Mr. Serrato previously managed the workforce development bureau of the City of Long Beach and served as the Assistant Executive Director of the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network. Mr. Serrato grew up in Modesto, California, studied Architecture at Woodbury University (Los Angeles) where his thesis was focused on social design in public housing.
