1. How do I verify employment for a current County employee?

Call our office at (209) 385-7511 and ask for the Payroll Section. Please identify yourself and the company you are representing. Provide a social security number and name of the person about whom you are inquiring.

We can verbally verify information you already have, but cannot provide any new information.

2. How do I obtain answers to questions regarding my tax bill?

Contact our Property Tax Section at (209) 385-7511, and they will be glad to help you with whatever questions you may have.

3. How do I get copies of my W-2 if I worked for Merced County?

For W'2s prior to 2018:

Submit a written request by mail to:

Please include your name used as it was at the time the W-2 was originally issued, your social security number, the year of the W-2 that you are requesting, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please sign this request.

You can also request a copy by phone.  Please call (209) 385-7511 ext 4282 and provide the same information as stated above.

For W-2s from 2018 to current:

Please contact the department from which you terminated employment with the county.  Provide them the same information as listed above.
